Merci Marcel is a lifestyle concept that combines a cafe with a shop in the old school tiong bahru. Is it considered a french cafe if it's opened by french? Aside from that, they also sell french food such as crab tartine, Ravioles de Royans, Pain au chocolat and other brunch food such as scrambled eggs and benedict egg. French enough?
I ordered the ravioles de royans which is french dumplings pasta filled with Tete de Moine Cheese.
Other than the cheese in the dumplings, there are florets of cheese on top as well. The dumplings are cooked in a white cream sauce. Order this if you love cheese as this can get quite cheesy. I also ordered a croissant which was flaky and buttery. I went during lunch time and the cafe was full of customers so i chose an outdoor seat. I have never been to France but the decor was also heavily influenced with French Cafe Bistro Rattan Chair used and lots of palm and hanging plants from the ceilings. Does it remind you of a french backyard? lolol
